I am looking for some imput, I currently own a 1996 JD 955 4WD,HST, 70A loader with 60" bucket,60" mid mount mower and turf tires,that I've loaded with windshield washer fluid(this will not rust your rims). The tractor I bought new and it currently has 350 hours on. I am thing of selling this tractor and looking at the JD 4400,4WD, HST, 430 loader with the 61" HD bucket, 60" mid mount mower and turf tires. Basically I am thinking of upgrading and I don't know if this is a good move. My tractor is in excellant shape, the only reason I am considering this, is I wish I had more lifting capacity with the loader and I feel my loader is a little slow. I like the actual physical size of my 955, so I am not looking for a physically larger tractor, just stronger and quicker. I was quoted a price of $24350.00 for the JD 4400 4WD,Hyro,Turf Tires, 430 Loader with 61" HD bucket, Bucket level Indicator and a 60" mid mount mower on a straight deal, no trade. Also, what is my tractor worth if I sold it out right? and what is it worth if I was to trade it in? Any imput is greatly appreciated. Thanks John

Have you considered going to an front or rear PTO-driven hydraulic pump and associated parts that only works the loader? That would sure make that loader jump. ....

I just got a quote for a 4400 hst,mfwd,less mid pto, r4's,430 loader, folding rops,61" bucket w/ bucket level indicator..All for 19970 !!!! I live in Ks around KC..If that deal holds up I will try to buy at the end of the year. That makes the mid mower set up a bit high to me.Just my two cents worth but i have been looking at JD 4400's a lot lately. The hydrualics on these machines seem to be far better than any of the other colors ....

I had a 955 ( w/7A loader) for 8 years. loved it, neat toy. I bought a 4400HST. I didn't like the idea of the tractor being so much larger, and heavier. The 4400 is so much stronger and very maneuverable that the 955 is a waste of time when it comes to moving dirt. ....
